Lizard King on Speedway

Jim Morrison was pardoned by Florida Governor Charlie Crist after a lengthy investigation that showed how sneaky and underhanded the prosecution and courts were when this all went down after the Door's '69 Concert. You can hardly imagine what other atrocities must have been swept under the rug in these redneck kangaroo courts the Governor politely referred to as, highly conservative products of the time.
The Mural of Jim graces an apartment house where Speedway ends at the Pacific Ocean in Venice, California. Speedway Street was the main straight of the famous Venice Motorcycle Road Race Track. The three mile course was purpose built in 1915 ,improving the beach side town with cement straights connected by banked wooden corners. Otto Walker won the 300 mile race that year and his team mate Red Parkhurst was second on their Factory Harley Board Trackers.
