Jerry Greer's Maico 490 FT

If you have been around a while you will remember this bike. Jerry built it with the help of lots of companies to take the mighty powerful Maico 490 and turn it into a Yamaha 500 beater. The project was followed in Cycle News and made a big splash. Jerry transported me and my bike to my very first FT event which was a Lightweights MC, TT at Saddleback. I got to know Luke, who was a young engineer at S & W Shocks and he encouraged me to try these TTs. We had our bikes in Luke's driveway real early one saturday morning and waited for his boss to show up in his van. Turns out it was Jerry who at the time was, Head of Engr for S & W. It was a very positive introduction to racing FT, with Jerry giving me lots of valuable pointers. Jerry was a great guy, a driven, inspiring individual. His Indian Engineering business was a perfect example of his talents and the Ascot Reunion he organized was a fantastic event that we all thoroughly enjoyed and appreciated.
