NASCAR will go Road Racing in San Diego June 2026.

So Cal used to be a big Road Race for NASCAR every year at Riverside. Now San Diego will have a race at Coronado Naval Air Station right down town in the very heart of San Diego. All three classes will race on a three mile, purpose built track connecting air station runways. Vintage cars ran for many years on the same space but the track was rough and a kind of slapped together low buck event. NASCAR will most certainly require lots of new pavement smoothly joining the course cement runways into a flowing high speed track. This race will replace the Chicago road race. NASCAR has not been roundy-round racing only and embraced left and right turns for years. One of the best eras was when Parnelli Jones and Mario Andretti teamed up in 427 '66 Ford Fairlane coupes and dominated with sheer talent and horsepower and handling.
