Lil John as he was known, was a competitive Speedway rider at 15. His dad, Jack Hateley was both racer and bike builder, tuner supreme and it was only natural his son would follow in his footsteps. Lil John rode the state of the art British road racer in the late 60's, a Rob North Triumph Triple and did very well on it. Friday night Ascot Half Mile was his backyard and he made a real name for himself winning the Jr.Championship on one of Jack's fast Triumph Specials. Lil John turned into a household name with his racing expertice racing mainly on Triumphs. He raced everything motorcycle though and was good at it all. He is still tearing it up on So Cal Tracks occasionally and when he is you know you will be battling John Hateley for the win. Here he is on a clean and tidy Jack Hateley Maico 501 at the Ascot TT.
