When I was a teenager my girlfriend and I jumped a cheap charter to London for a three month exploration. First stop British Grand Prix, Silverstone, Northhants. Got to the track a day early and made friends with some local firemen working the race. Camped with them inside the track and went with them to their different locations during the weekend. Like most American race fans we were big Peter Revson supporters. He was driving his Team Mclaren F1, the only American in the race. He won. It was fantastic. It was his first GP victory. He went on the win the Canadian GP that same year. He was killed at the South African GP the next year,'74. The racing world lost one of it's all time best.
