Dick wore the No.1 Plate in 1963 and this was his first outing as Grand National Champion. Norton Manx, custom painted and pinstriped, Bell Magnum and brand new leathers with some color on them as required by the AMA. Black was bad for business. Unfortunately the 500 Manx let go in a big way on the 58th lap.
