Harley Davidson would not be around today if not for Vaughn Beals.
The Motor Company would have died and ugly death in the mid '80s
if not for his realization that the only way to save the iconic brand was to
organize an employee and investor group to buy the brand from AMF and then radically change their manufacturing philosophy to the strict Quality Control methods pioneered by the Japanese manufacturers. Beals business acumen and manufacturing prowess quickly turned the ship around when he had full control and was not being stifled by the corporate group think of AMF.
I hope the current brass at H.D. looked to Vaughn for some solid advice on how to meet todays challenges.
