My nephew Albie Soto has great taste in motorbikes and The One Show and the associated Salem Pro Short Track Races were great places to get your photo taken next to some of the best ever. Gary Nixon's Trackmaster and Stevie Baker's TZ750.
Albie came down from Seattle and I flew to Portland from San Diego. We thoroughly enjoyed the weekend in PDX. We got to the One at 9pm Friday night and drank in the sights and sounds and left enthused at mid-night. Saturday we went back for a few hours before heading south to Salem for the Races. I had not been to this track so I was very interested to see what it was like. The covered arena 1/8 track is fantastic. Wide and banked, it provided great, entertaining racing. They put on an organized event that went off without a hitch with continuous back to back races. The rider count was large as were the spectators who ringed the track. Not many tracks let you right up against the fence, here they do and it sure adds to the excitement. The N.W. has always been a Flat Track Hot Spot and the locals really know their way around this little speed bowl but, to see the Pros attack the track was something to witness.
