3w Doyle McNatt racing at Sidewinders TT Track, Clackamas, Oregon

Doyle McNatt out front with a determined Ray Carroll 3q literally, hot on his heels. This is turn 4 at Sidewinders in Portland ,Oregon. The track was unique with an uphill front straight and a downhill back straight. Turns one and two crested a rise which provided some of the best feet-up powerslides ever witnessed, then the downhill into turns 3 and 4. You can see the downhill in the photo below linking 3 and 4. The starts were on the shute on the infield which you can see. They would head right for the crowd and then around turn 4. Sidewinders was a 3/8 track that provided spectacular racing and as you can see the crowd was right there ,eating it all up. These are from August 29th ,1968
Doyle can be seen on his Triumph second from right, top row. The lower line-up are the two strokes. I see a DT-1, which must have been one of the very first and I also see #32 Dusty Coppage . NW Fans help me out here. This little track provided huge entertainment for the motorcycle community in the Great North West for three decades and was killed by Californians moving to Portland, when this track was bulldozed and became a giant apartment complex. I started a business just down the street from here in Clackamas in 1993 and swear to God, lived for a year in one of those apartments that, to my best reckoning, was built right on the front straight . At night I would lay in bed listening for all those hot rod sickles that flew by with in feet of me. Sidewinders was a very special place.
These photos are courtesy of the McNatt Family. Doyle's son and daughter inlaw are both proud of their dad and his racing history and sent me these photos, knowing I am a big Sidewinders fan. Doyle is 75 and still has his leathers and memorabilia of that fantastic era in Oregon. A big Thank You to the McNatts.
