Ricky Smith made the journey south from Salinas to run the Double Header at Perris.
It was his first time at the So Cal facility and he had heard it was a cushion track so he opted for a tried and true Pirelli for the front. He had a new one up in the rafters, so he got it down, mounted it and performed surgery on it with some cuts he learned 30 years ago. Rick tore the place up so I would say it worked really well. He was commenting that the riders now like to push the front end which you can do with the big tires they have but, he sticks with his old tire and old classic style.
