Ducati in the Desert !

Joe Kopp puts the Ducati on top of the box ,first time out ! With a come from behind, draft by at the stripe Victory. What a way to cap the events that took place at the First Arizona Mile in Prescott. The racing surface had everybody a little bit worried and for good reason it turns out. Turns 1 and 2 were scary slippery and fast requiring a steady throttle hand and nerves of steel. Turns 3 and 4 made up for it with a tacky reliable surface that allowed them to rail around with both wheels in line , attaining huge speed as they blasted out of 4 and down the front straight. All the riders loved 3 and 4 and all of them had puckering moments at 1 and 2. Smokin' Joe Kopp has balls of steel and proved this in the Main when he tried something different and pitched it into the cushion of and 1 and 2 and lap after lap made up big chunks of gain every lap. It didn't do his rear tire any good and as they rolled the Ducati up on to the box, everybody is looking at his completely worn out rear tire with the cords showing. Joe is very lucky they shortened the Main from 25 to 20 Laps, because he would not have made it. The Arizona Mile was a great event and everybody there enjoyed it to the utmost. It sold out before the event and was standing room only, basically cementing the future races planned for later this year.
Joe and Tuner, Bike Builder and Test Rider ,Kevin Atherton enjoy the thrill of victory.
