Yamaha Catalina Racer

In 1958 Yamaha showed up at the Catalina GP with five of these YD250 Twin Racers. It was the first time Yamaha had raced outside their homeland and they took the Yanks by surprise. Fumio Ito got a credible 6th place and impressed everyone with their screaming 12K two-smoke. I watched a movie about the '58 GP and the announcer was referring to the new YA-MARR-
HARRS from Japan.
This is the bike Ito rode and it stayed in the States and Cal Rayborn used it to win Yamahas first AMA Dirt Track victory with a TT win at Cajon Speedway, San Diego.
