In 1973 Evel was on a roll . He was going to jump at the L.A. Coliseum and these photos are from the pre-jump practice.
EK was is his usual pre-jump a-hole persona, he had just insulted the promoter who was trying to clobber him with Evel's own cane. Evel also had some trouble on his XR. He got going a little too fast and had to get hard on the anchors to keep from sailing off the top of the ramp. He lost it and ended up on his head in the bleachers. He must of hit hard because he came up with a hairball scheme to be dropped like a bomb from a plane into a pile of cardboard boxes. This was going to be his grand entrance before the jump. The more he explained it ,the more he thought he might get really hurt doing this, so the idea was shelved for a later date.
