Eddie Wirth Sprint Car
Eddie Wirth, a well known Flat Tracker Motorcycle Racer who made a very successful transition to Sprint Cars( which race on the same tracks as the bikes). He was CRA Champ in '85 and had a long and distinguished career in these four wheeled monsters. Eddie is involved in Hollywood movie making and one of his close buds was the late great Paul Newman. Newman who was also a very accomplished racing driver and was known to borrow Wirth's 650 H.P. Sprint Car for the occasional practice session. Sprint Cars need to be driven with authority, there is no way you can go out and pussyfoot around. You have to drive them with your foot firmly in it with the rear wheels spinning and sliding in the corners. If you dont, the big tires will grab and flip you into a barrel rolling wreck. This is Eddies car from the early '80s when they used hand grooved ,wrinkle wall drag slicks. Today the tire technology has changed completely with dedicated dirt track tires but the cars are basically the same( except for even more H.P.)
