The Baja 500 and the Baja 1000 are the two big Desert Races of the year.This weekends 1000 is sure to be one of the most interesting ever. Due to last years problems with the lawlessness that prevails in border Mexico currently, the race was rumorered to be cancelled. Mexican authorities convinced the organizers that with the support of the Mexican Army,Navy, Highway Patrol and Federal Police the race should go on. Fingers crossed.
