Nicky Hayden lived a full and flat-out life. I got to share in his experience vicariously from the grandstand seat and loved every minute Nicky was on the track. The Kentucky Kid was wild and thoroughly enjoyable. I remember well when he showed up at the Springfield pit gate with a leopard spot hairdo. Only Nicky could pull that off. Del Mar Short Track before the National on a couple of occasions he put in epic rides, one he won and the other he didn't, against Texas Terry Poovey The excitement he generated was so much appreciated.
